Savannah Georgia is home to Dr. Pete’s. (Well Hello Neighbor!) They make delicious marinades, sauces, salad dressings, and the famous Praline Mustard Glaze.
Dr. T. A. Peterson, known as Dr. Pete to his patients, was often seen with his worn, black leather doctor’s bag in hand entering homes around Savannah, to check on a broken bone, to give a shot, or administer a friendly dose of good conversation.
As much as Dr. Pete loved his practice of medicine, he equally loved the art of cooking, and he spent many joyous hours creating and preparing wonderful dishes and sauces for his family and friends. In 1985, his daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Joel Coffee, began bottling some of his recipes, and selling them to the public under the “Dr. Pete’s” label. Now you can enjoy some of the marinades and sauces that Savannahians have enjoyed for years.
I was Blessed to receive some outrageously delicious goodies from Dr. Pete’s to review and I cannot wait to share them with you!
I’m a huge citrus fan and I adore pears so when I heard about this dressing I couldn’t wait to try it! It’s a bit sweet, a tad tart and everything you could want in a salad dressing! Oh how refreshing on your summer salads!
Dr. Pete’s even suggests using it as a finishing sauce for chicken and fish, but to be honest, I haven’t tried that for Hubby yet because I am enjoying it so much on my fresh salads! Yes, I’m being selfish, but I eat salads daily and this is such a treat! Heck, I’m even enjoying a tiny splash over fruit salad! Holy moly it’s so good! It’s not heavy or greasy or over the top! No! It just adds a delicious somethin’ somethin’ that elevates a great salad to a gourmet salad!

These are so easy peasy to make too! Simply melt 3/4 stick of butter (I admit, I cheated, I used light margarine and they came out wonderful!) Add one egg and the baking mix. Mix by hand and press into 8X8 in pan and bake! Sprinkle with powdered sugar when cooled and SHARE!!! No, they aren’t green! That’s a good thing! There’s no artificial color added and you won’t miss it! Dr. Pete’s Key Lime Bars are rich, sweet, and citrusy! They really do taste homemade, because, well, they are!!!
