The story of Truly Hawaiian Teriyaki Sauce is an impressive one! It’s one of family, history and tradition. Back in the 1920′s in Honlulu, William A. “Bill” Kanakanui shared a truly delicious Hawaiian Teriyaki Sauce for the frequent “block parties” on the beach he and his family attended! All would come to feast, fellowship and enjoy good times.
Everyone loved Bill’s special recipe for teriyaki sauce. It had been handed down from his father and was a popular choice for marinating steak, chicken, and ribs. When cooked on a grill, the sauce would caramelize and provide a distinct smoky, yet sweet, flavor – “ono ono!” (Hawaiian for absolutely delicious.)
Bill’s youngest son Richard and their family have taken that recipe and bring it to us! In 2008 Truly Hawaiian was launched.
I was Blessed to receive the The Truly Hawaiian 2 Pack for review. Fabulous marinade for steak, chicken, fish, pork, ribs. Try it on stir-fry vegetables, grilled fruits, tofu, or simply over rice. Pour it directly on your entree to enhance your meal with a sensational sauce.
Call me crazy, but I made Pasta with my Truly Hawaiian! Hubby the Hubster said it was very tasty! YUP! Here’s what I did…
While spaghetti was cooking I sauteed some onions and garlic in a tiny amount of olive oil. Then I added some fresh steamed green beans and my Truly Hawaiian Teriyaki Sauce and let that simmer for about 3 or 4 minutes. I added an egg white which I had previously scrambled and the hot pasta and tossed to coat. Top with fresh cracked pepper and a little more Truly Hawaiian Teriyaki Sauce! EASY PEASY and sooooo delicious!
We also love Truly Hawaiian Teriyaki Sauce as a marinade for Hubby’s chicken, my veggies, tofu and faux chicken hahah! When you grill those foods they become sweet, crispy and caramalized! Oh and it makes a great dipping sauce too!
