Mosaic Meals by Janet DeGras
Publisher: CreateSpace

Bringing Vegans, Vegetarians, and Omnivores Together
Well, it’s about time!
My Dad was a Vegetarian from the age of eight years old until he passed away 10 years ago at the age of 78. I’ve been a Vegetarian for 20+ years, and 5+ of those years a Vegan. You would be shocked at the shenanigans I’ve had to endure and the comments people have made to me, often in jest, but still those comments were rude and insulting.
Mosaic Meals is the book for you if…
- You are an omnivore who wants to understand and accommodate others who are vegan or vegetarian. (That’s Hubby the Hubster)
- You occasionally host guests who make up a mixed group of vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores. (That’s Me!)
- You are transitioning to a diet that is less dependent on meat. (Hubby again)
- You practice meatless days for ethical, health, or religious reasons, but share a table with others who do not. (ME ME ME!)
- When everyone at the table doesn’t share the same diet, it doesn’t have to be a recipe for disaster! (HELLO!!! This is everyone!)
This book is full of fabulous recipes and a thoughtful introduction ‘section’ entitled What Your Vegetarian Guest Won’t tell You” that knocked my socks off!
I don’t know how many times I’ve wanted to howl at the top of my lungs in the past 20 years “Can’t we just get along and eat in peace!” Janet DeGras you rock!!!
Each recipe is labeled if it’s suitable for Vegan, Vegetarian or Omnivore and there are variations on some recipes for all three!
SOME OF MY FAVORITES
- Brunch Burrito
- Speedy Black Bean Chili (Vegan Version!)
- Un-Fries (Soooo Good!) ‘Baked ‘Fries’
- Taco Salad (Vegetarian Version)
- 15 Minute Baked Potato Curry Feast (OHMYGOSH, so easy and soooo good!)
- Hearty Grilled Burgers (Vegan for me, Omnivore for Hubby the Hubster!)
- Spinach Pie (I’ve not tried this yet, but this is a must on my list! I’ve never seen a vegan version! Woo Hoo!)
- Traditional Linzer Tart (One of my girls all time faves!)
- Double Chocolate Tart (Did you think I would leave out a chocolate recipe
)

Oh my goodness! I'm happy to find out about this book. I'm a 12 year vegetarian (2 years vegan), and my boyfriend is an omni. My entire family is omni as well. My boyfriend and I are moving in together so recipes from this book will be great for our housewarming party!
I'd like to try the Carrot Fries.
I never would have thought of doing this with/to carrots.

My family never tries anything I make if I say it's vegan – maybe this book will help with meal planning! I have an eggplant in the fridge I need to use and the Meatless Monday Eggplant Parmesan-No sounds yummy!

I looked it up on amazon and it has two 5 star reviews, sounds promising! I used to be a vegetarian, but turned to meat when I got pregnant. My husband is a meat lover. I'd love to learn to cook more veg dishes for our family.
From the website I'd like to try their Baba Ganoush/Eggplant Dip recipe
