GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED
Eco Nuts™ was conceived as a company that could transcend the cleaning industry in becoming a leader in environmentally responsible practices. They are environmentally friendly in their operations and socially responsible in dealing with their customers, partners and suppliers.
Eco Nuts™ strives with their packaging and products to have as little impact on the environment as possible, and that means no plastic in every instance it can be avoided. They incorporate whenever reasonably possible, recycled, repurposed, sustainable and organic materials.
Every box of Eco Nuts™ purchased is one less plastic detergent bottle, and their goal is to remove 1 million plastic bottles from ever making it into a landfill. Why use precious resources to even recycle that plastic. I love that their liquids are contained in aluminum, which can be recycled over and over and over again!
I’m a total Eco Nut about clean clothes! So when I heard about a product actually called Eco Nuts™ that’s an organic laundry detergent I knew I wanted to do a Product Review. I was super curious how these “nuts” worked, or even if they worked. The whole concept was foreign to me, as I’m sure it is to you as well.
I was Blessed to receive Eco Nuts™ – Regular Size (50 hot, up to 90 cold loads) for review. This is what Eco Nuts look like.
Eco Nuts™ are completely sustainable dried fruit shells that come from the Sapindus mukorossi tree in Nepal, India and Indonesia. These come from high up in the Himalayas and apparently these fruit shells have been used in India and China for centuries as an “organic laundry detergent”. I wondered how these strange looking nuts worked and found out that they contain contain saponin, a natural cleaner that works as a surfactant, breaking the surface tension of the water to penetrate the fibers of your clothing, lifting stains from the fabric and leaving dirt suspended in the water that is rinsed away. Oddly enough they do not foam up, but they sure do get your clothing clean!
Hubby has psoriasis so I’m super careful about the detergent I use. Sweet Pea has eczema so if I use a laundry detergent with fragrances and dyes my family’s skin will be itching and they’ll be miserable. Eco Nuts is perfect for them. I love that Eco Nuts are fragrance free and get my laundry clean and incredibly soft. Eco Nuts really work and ya know what? They are economical to use! I find that I get more than 1o loads from a bag of Eco Nuts.
Let me tell you how easy these cuties are to use. You receive 2 reusable drawstring wash bags with your Eco Nuts. Instructions are included, by the way, but just put 4 or 5 ‘nuts’ in the bag and tie closed. If you’ve got some ‘half’ or broken nuts, that’s fine, just use the equivalent of 4-5. Toss the bag in with your wash and do what ya normally do! At the end of your wash cycle you can either do another load or remove the bag and set aside to dry. Re-use at least 5-7 times in hot water and up to 10 times in cold water. They will start to disintegrate and you can compost them. Here are a few tips I learned…don’t over fill your washer, Eco Nuts work best when they have room to agitate. Don’t add fabric softener, your wash will come out soft and fluffy without it. Oh, it’s ok if your bag of Eco Nuts goes through the rinse cycle. Psst.. it’s still to pre-treat greasy, grubby, grimy stains like you would with regular laundry detergent.
Eco Nuts can be used in both standard and hi-efficiency (HE) machine).

* Eco Nuts™ are actually a berry fruit related to the lychee and are not nuts at all. They are completely nut allergy safe and have been used successfully with no reactions by people with nut allergies. They earned the name “nuts” because they dry into hard shells like nuts instead of squishy fruit.
While Eco Nuts™ has been a terrific solution for many customers with skin allergies and other conditions, people who have many allergies or compromised immune systems should always take proper precautions and first wash one small item in a small container or sink OR do a patch test before washing an entire load in the washing machine.
