Green Books Campaign: Ferdinand Uses The Potty

This review is part of the Green Books Campaign.  Today 200 Bloggers take a stand to support books printed in an eco-friendly manner by simultaneously publishing reviews of 200 books printed on recycled or FSC-certified paper.  By turning a spotlight on books printed using eco- friendly paper, we hope to raise the awareness of book buyers and encourage everyone to take the environment into consideration when purchasing books.

The campaign is organized for the second time by Eco-Libris, a green company working to make reading more sustainable.  We invite you to join the discussion on “green” books and support books printed in an eco-friendly manner!  A full list of participating blogs and links to their reviews is available on Eco-Libris website.

More than 30 million trees are cut down annually for virgin paper used for the production of books sold in the U.S. alone. That’s definitely a problem – trees are one of the most valuable natural resources we have. They literally form the foundations of many natural systems and provide us with numerous benefits (carbon dioxide absorption, soil and water conservation, avalanche control, desertification prevention to name a few). I was Blessed to receive Ferdinand Uses the Potty by Jay Tucker, D. E. West (Illustrator) for My Little Guy and me to review!
Publisher: Loving Healing Press
ISBN-13: 9781932690828
Printed on FSC-certified paper

Ferdinand the Frog awakens one night to a very damp realization. Something doesn’t feel right in his bed at all! What can the little guy do to fix the situation?  Luckily for Ferdinand, he has a friend who has experienced the same thing. Ferdinand learns that potty training is all about confidence. There seems to be one huge obstacle, however. Ferdinand is afraid of the sound the toilet makes when it’s flushed.

In Ferdinand Uses the Potty, by Jay Tucker, our yellow frog friend faces his fear and he will encourage your child to do the same! Ferdinand Uses the Potty is wonderfully illustrated by award winning artist, D.E. West.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve had to even think about potty training!  Granted My Little Guy just had his first birthday, but Ferdinand Uses the Potty is an adorable book that introduces the idea of potty training in a friendly and  straightforward way that children will love!  The illustrations are precious.  The story is written in rhyming prose, so it’s fun to read and fun to listen to!  Jay Tucker uses humor and language that children understand to overcome the dreaded fear of  THE POTTY!  My Little Guy already loves this book!

I like that this book not only offers a way for kids and parents to tackle potty training, but it does so with rhyming prose. Wonderful.

We are currently trying to potty train my granddaughter. I have always used praise instead of punishment. The frog is so cute.
