Do you enjoy eating garlic bread? Does oregano always find its way into your spaghetti sauce? Do you garnish potato salad with paprika? Then you are participating in the ancient tradition of using herbs to enhance the health benefits and digestibility of your food. With over 250 recipes for herbal oils, vinegars, pestos, dressings, salts, cordials, syrups, smoothies and more, The Herbal Kitchen provides the information necessary to prepare, store, and use herbs, and create a long term healthcare plan.
The Herbal Kitchen will help you to recognize the extraordinary pharmacy that already exists in your own kitchen–one that will boost immunity, heal sickness, enhance energy, and ensure overall health and vitality, all without the need for fancy equipment or specialty products.
I always say “We love our food highly seasoned” and that’s why Hubby and I plant an herb garden each year. Herbs are so easy to grow and add so much flavor and zip to foods and drinks. This book gave me new insight on ways to use my herbs! Kami McBride describes fifty healing herbs and spices and their uses. This book includes healthy recipes for herbal waters, drinks, smoothies, honeys, cordial, oils and pestos!
The hot summer month are upon us and nothing is more refreshing than an ice-cold lemonade. The Herbal Kitchen’s version is a delicious variation on an old favorite! Who needs all that sugar anyway!? ![]()
Lavender Lemonade
Ingredients
- 2 quarts lavender tea (*see below)
- 1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice or one can of frozen lemonade concentrate
- ½ cup honey
Combine and serve in a tall glass over ice and enjoy!
*To make the Lavender Tea, combine 8 tablespoons fresh or dried lavender with 2 quarts water. Place in pot with the lid on and bring to a boil. Once it has boiled, turn off the heat and let sit for one half hour. Strain the lavender from the water and you now have a lavender tea to be used as the base for your lavender lemonade.
This book is so much more than a cookbook! We all know that herbs possess healing properties for our skin and body. There’s a whole chapter packed with with herbal baths and foot soak recipes! Many store bought herbal bath products contain artificial ‘stuff’. When you make your own No-Itch Bath Tea, you can be sure your skin will be soothed naturally with herbal ingredients from nature! You’ll have a great night’s sleep when you treat your tootsies to a Sweet Dreams Foot Bath at the end of a long hot day! The herbal ingredients are relaxing, soothing and the foot bath is very easy to make!

The many resources on this site are dedicated to helping you use herbs in your everyday life for health and wellness.
I like that they have organic products
There are over 250 recipes highlighted there.
I found an interesting title to another book:
’105 Ways To Celebrate Menstruation’ It’s good to see that Kami McBride is encouraging young women to celebrate rather then to just complain and be so negative about this cycle in their lives! I’ve always tried to encourage my daughters too; wish I had seen this book when they were still at home with me!
