Bill ‘Gramp’s’ Brickner and his wife Janet ‘Grams’ Brickner started Gramp’s Gourmet® Foods as a hobby in 2005 in their hometown of Scales Mound. He originally handmade a selection of pickles and beets for family, friends and community events, then extended his business to farmers’ markets, specialty shops, and online.
Gramp’s currently offers 12 varieties of both sweet and dill pickles, Martha’s Sweet Hot Mustard, a variety of pickled beets and Gramp’s signature drink: Apple-Pie-In-A-Jar. All pickles are available in slices or spears, are hand-cut and hand-packed.
I was Blessed to receive a variety of goodies from Gramp’s Gourmet Foods to review! These arrived incredibly well packaged and in perfect condition! I was so impressed. I cannot tell you the number of times in recent months I have received a box containing broken glass. This company packages and ships their products very well!
Gramp’s Gourmet Apple-Pie-In-A-Jar
No preservatives or additives in this fabulous brew! Just old fashioned cider, apple juice, cinnamon and sugar. Enjoy hot for a warm, comforting drink, or over ice for a refreshing summer time cooler! Feel free to add sparkling water or even a shot of ‘moonshine’! For a special treat, heat and drizzle over vanilla or fruit flavored ice cream! This is absolutely delicious and I will be re-ordering this again! Price ~ $7
Gramp’s Gourmet Pickled “Heet Beet” & Gramp’s Gourmet Pickled “Red Hot” Beet
I’m a huge beet fan! I often roast fresh beets in the winter with balsamic vinegar and enjoy them just like that. Sweet Pea and I love them so much we’ve created a salad consisting of field greens, beets and chick peas. It is amazing and every one that tastes it, loves it! I’ve never had spicy beets though, so I was ‘hot’ to get my mitts on these, ’cause ya know I love my food highly seasoned!
Heet Beets are the milder version of the two, but trust me when I tell ya both have quite a zesty kick! If you’re like me and you love hot ‘stuff’ then you are going to love Red Hot Beets! Both jars of pickled beets are wonderful as a side dish or as an addition to a beautiful green salad! You just can’t find products like these on grocery shelves. The beets are a vibrant red color, taste fresh and have retained a wonderful texture! Be sure to refrigerate any leftovers as these do not contain any artificial preservatives or ingredients! Price ~ $7 per jar.
Gramp’s Original Gourmet Pickles with Garlic Spears & Gramp’s Gourmet Sour Dill Jalapeno Garlic Spears
I’m not a huge fan of sweet pickles. My mom was! She could polish off a jar of sweet pickles in just a few days. Those were her favorite, Bless her pointy little head! So I was a little nervous about trying Gramp’s Original Gourmet Pickles w/ Garlic spears. These are not at all what I expected. Sweet pickles are usually just, well, sweet! Ick! These are tangy, zippy and have so much flavor. Yes, they are sweet, but they are not just sweet! If you love the combination of sweet ‘n sour, then give these a whirl. I love the addition of garlic! Garlic makes everything taste better!! Be sure to put out a jar of these at your next picnic or barbeque! There’s nothing artificial in these pickles.
I’ve found my favorite pickle of all times! Gramp’s Gourmet Sour Dill Pickles w/ Garlic spears are spicy, salty, crispy, crunchy and full of garlic flavor! Hubby had been away on business for a while and was dying for a home cooked meal. Gramp’s Gourmet Foods were part of the meal I served for his welcome home dinner. He loved these pickles. CAUTION: These are addictive! If you love pickles you must must must try these! Price ~ $7
Mayo? No way! It’s just not my style. I’ve been a mustard lover since I was a kid! Martha’s Hot Mustard is unlike any other mustard I’ve ever tried. It’s thick and rich and jam packed with flavor!! I love this mustard on my veggie dogs and sammies, but it is also spectacular in potato and macaroni salad and wonderful as a dip for pretzels! The spicy, sweet taste is delish on all your grilled meats, faux meats and veggies! The 9 oz. squeeze bottle is very convenient too. No jars to have laying around open on the picnic table. Price ~ $5.50
