Hubby and I have been married almost 28 years! For the most part I love with my heart and he loves with his head. Don’t ask me why but it works! When I started reading The Finance of Romance: Investing in Your Relationship Portfolio I started looking at my relationship with Hubby in a different way. Let me start by saying that Hubby and I are very compatible and before we married we knew that our views on finances meshed. So as I thumbed through this book each chapter just made sense to me.
Hubby and I are very careful with our finances. Our motto is, if you can’t afford it, don’t buy it. We don’t overspend and maintain good credit. I pinch pennies wherever I can and to save a buck Hubby has always brought a sack lunch to work. Lo and behold Leon Scott Baxter took those principles and applied them to romance. The Finance of Romance is a book we can all relate to! It’s not written in a stodgy text book way! It’s honest down to earth advice and wisdom that’s easy to learn and follow.
The Finance of Romance is filled with incredible advice and guidance, personal anecdotes, humor, and at the end of each of the thirteen chapters couples find activities to practice what they’ve learned and expand what they know. I own lots of relationship quick-fix books. Let me tell ya, I can’t get Hubby to open the first chapter to read page one. When I started reading The Finance of Romance to him his ears perked up. When you take stock of your relationship and it’s value like you do your finances you’ll realize it’s fun and easy to make romance a priority!
