I’m a bread lover! All kinds, doesn’t matter! What can I say, carbs excite me! I’ve tasted Naan pizza before but I’ve never had the pleasure of enjoying Naan “as is”. For those of you who may not know what Naan is let me fill you in. Naan is a flatbread that has a very long history!
“The tradition of making flatbreads has been in existence for over 6,000 years,” shares the Ajmera family, baking veterans with over 40 years of experience and creators of Stonefire Naan. “We’ve spent years perfecting our flatbreads, researching ancient recipes and perfecting traditional baking techniques to bring wonderfully versatile flatbread with pure authentic flavor free of preservatives to customers throughout North America.”
Stonefire Naan doesn’t contain synthetic dyes, preservatives, trans fats or hydrogenated oils. Their flatbreads are delicious. I was Blessed to receive an assortment of Stonefire Naan for review. Of course you can use Naan in a variety of ways and recipes but I’m going to fill you in on a little secret. The first Stonefire Naan I enjoyed was right out of the bag, warmed up, plain with nothing on it! Yum!
The key to creating authentically light, naturally smoky-tasting naan is heat and the folks at Stonefire know it! They bake their Naan at extremely high heat, in a tandoor oven, just as they were hundreds of years ago. The extremely high heat produces the big bubbles, airy texture and delicious smoky flavor of an authentic Indian naan.
Their products are made with all natural ingredients like fresh buttermilk and clarified butter. Stonefire Naan is available in three varieties: original, whole grain and fire roasted garlic and all are yummy. The best way to heat Stonefire Naan is on the Grill or Barbeque. I heat mine on the stove top on a griddle. Just spritz with a little water so they don’t dry out and heat for a minute or too. You can brush them with a bit of melted butter or olive oil if desired. Stonefire Naan are excellent for dunking into hummus, guacamole and dips! They make a wonderful sandwich, wrap or panini and they are the perfect “side” with soups ‘n salads.
We like to use Stonefire Naan for sammies! Anything from almond butter to veggie cold cuts to Hubby’s turkey breast taste fabulous on Stonefire Naan. But my favorite recipe of all is the one I found on the Stonefire Website. It’s for Breakfast Naan Pizza. I made a few substitutions so we could both enjoy it. The pizza is easy to prepare and a nice change of pace on a Saturday morning! Recipe can easily be halved or quartered!
