Oh the dog days of summer!  It is hotter ‘n blazes here in Georgia and as much as I’d love to escape into the cool comfort of the house, I’ve got a Little Guy who loves to play outside.  The great thing is that same Little Guy loves ice cream so after an afternoon in the baby pool, or playing ball it’s nice to settle into a comfy deck chair and indulge in a yummy, creamy ice cream cone!  Mmmmm!  Nothing better I bet you agree!  And while his little waistline can certainly handle the calories, my behind cannot!  That’s why I’ve been a huge fan of Edy’s Slow Churned Light Ice Cream for ions!

A few years ago Hubby and I discovered Edy’s Slow Churned Light Ice Cream when were searching for a healthier ice cream.  Full fat ice creams just weren’t doing it for us.  And the Fat-Free versions I  had been eating left a lot to be desired.  One bite and we were both hooked.  Edy’s Slow Churned Light Ice Cream has the mouth feel of full fat ice cream with lots of decadent, fun flavors!  With half the fat and one-third fewer calories than regular ice cream Hubby and I can indulge in one of our favorite summertime treats guilt-free!

Hubby tends to mound his bowl to the top with Edy’s Slow Churned Light Chocolate or Double Fudge Brownie Ice Cream.  I like chunky, fancier ice creams and I totally dig a sugar cookie one scoop cone!  I can’t resist Edy’s Slow Churned Light Mud Pie Ice Cream!  I don’t always like coffee ice cream but Edy’s I love!  This version of Edy’s light coffee ice cream is loaded with chocolate sandwich cookies and swirled with fudge!  Each lick brings a smile to my face!  Yum!

This summer, TV personality, actress and model Brooke Burke has partnered with Edy’s® Slow Churned Light Ice Cream to give away more than 25,000 free scoops of ice cream, turning scoops into smiles as part of their “A Reason to Smile” campaign to support Operation Smile an international children’s medical charity.

For every “ice cream smile” photo uploaded to Edy’s Facebook page, $5 will be donated to Operation Smile.  The goal is to give away more than 25,000 scoops of ice cream and capture 25,000 photos of ice cream smiles before summer’s end.  These efforts will help deliver more than 500 reconstructive surgeries to children around the globe suffering from cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.

Edy’s Slow Churned will be featuring ten of the smiles submitted in a print ad and one smile photo will win a place of honor on the cartons of a Slow Churned limited-edition flavor being re-introduced in early 2013.
