I would never consider myself an inventor but I’ve had a few ideas for children’s and infant’s products over the years that I thought were brilliant. I’m a Pediatric-Neonatal R.N. and there have been a few times when I was at work when an idea would pop into my head for a really creative product! From medication dosing devices to products that keep pre-term infants warm, I’ve come up with a few ideas that were pretty nifty!
The most creative idea I had was a device for the top of the trash pail in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which would keep it from snapping shut. Every time someone used the pail the lid would crash closed creating a loud bang that startled the ‘preemies’ in the infant warmers close by. If the Huggies® MomInspired™ Grant Program had been around back my ideas might be on the market today!

Now in its third year, the Huggies MomInspired Grant Program celebrates the natural creativity of moms, who solve real parenting challenges every day in innovative ways.
Huggies® wants to give moms a chance to channel their moments of ingenuity into products that help improve the lives of children and parents through the Huggies MomInspired Grant Program. Up to twelve grant recipients will receive $15,000 in seed capital as well as business resources to help turn innovative ideas into real-life inventions. Applications are currently being accepted through July 31, 2012. Grants will be announced and awarded in fall 2012.
