Girard’s® has been creating salad dressings as distinctive as its bottle since 1939.
I have some exciting news to share today! Back in June I was invited to become an official Girard’s Flavor Innovator and help Girard’s develop a few new salad dressing flavor varieties to join the existing Girard’s Premium Salad Dressings line. It’s been a fun couple of months and my job as an ‘Official Flavor Innovator’ has come to the point where I need your assistance. Several bloggers (including myself) joined with Girard’s research and development team to discuss flavor trends and salad dressing varieties in mid June.

After listening to our suggestions the R&D team at Girard’s went to work developing potential new salad dressing flavors. Those dressing were created and sent to the bloggers for tasting and the team met again to review the findings. I admit, I was outspoken in my opinions. Most of the dressings were pretty yummy. Some were fab-u-lous and a few were a total flop. Funny how something can sound so good on paper but be a bust in the bottle
!
Girard’s has narrowed their choices down to four from the original eight dressings they created. Now they need potential names for these products and only three will make the cut! Let me know your thoughts and which name you prefer for each salad dressing. If you’re super creative and come up with a great name for one of these dressings by all means let me know that too!

Artichoke Sundried Tomato Dressing
This gourmet-style dressing has a robust tomato flavor and a hint of luscious artichoke flavor on the palate. The color is exquisite and it is terrific on all kinds of lettuce. Not too salty and not sweet, this dressing makes a great marinade too! Which name do you think suits this dressing?
- Sundried Tomato Artichoke
- Sundried Roma Tomato
- Sundried Roma Tomato with Artichokes
Hummus Vinaigrette
This dressing is my flavor creation and it is off the wall, out of this world delicious. It could be served as the house dressing in the finest Italian restaurant, it is that yummy. It’s thickened with the perfect amount of savory hummus and seasoned with garlic and spices! Eating plain old Italian Dressing? BORING! This dressing is destined to become a classic! Which name fits this winner?
- Roasted Garlic Hummus Vinaigrette
- Hummus Vinaigrette
- Original Hummus Vinaigrette
- Classic Hummus Vinaigrette
Garlic Honey Pepper Dressing
This dressing infuses the bold flavor of garlic, the kick of pepper and the sweetness of honey. Ideal for those who like a touch of sweetness on their greens! Makes a great marinade too!
- Garlic Honey Pepper
- Sweet Garlic & Pepper
- Sweet Garlic Peppercorn
Espresso Balsamic Vinaigrette
Do ya love coffee? I do! But I was leery about this dressing. Coffee salad dressing? I knew I was going to hate it! LOVE LOVE LOVE! This dressing is addictive. It’s the perfect balance of sweet, smoky and salty with a hint of espresso. It’s rich and velvety and if when this dressing gets to market it will definitely be on my shopping list! I hope I gave you a good enough explanation so you can name this dressing! Which name do you think describes Espresso Balsamic Vinaigrette best?
- Coffee-Kissed Balsamic
- Balsamic Americano
- Barista Balsamic
- Espresso Balsamic
- Café Balsamic Vinaigrette
- Java Balsamic
- Balsamic Vinaigrette (“With A Hint of Coffee “- printed smaller underneath the flavor name)
Let me know your thoughts and I’ll keep you posted on which Girard’s Premium Salad Dressings Flavors we’ll be seeing soon!

Hi Leslie! Wow, how exciting! Sounds like a lot of fun, too. Here are my favorites for each flavor:
Sundried Roma Tomato with Artichokes
Roasted Garlic Hummus Vinaigrette
Sweet Garlic Peppercorn
Barista Balsamic
I’m really intrigued by the ‘Barista Balsamic’ (or whatever it ends up being called) variety. Sounds very odd, and to be honest, I don’t initially think I’ll like it. But it sounds just weird enough to be fantastic, and I’ll trust your recommendation and buy it when I see it! Hey…ya gotta try everything at least once, right?
Hi Heather!,
Thank you so much for your input! I really appreciate your suggestions. My initial reaction to to the Espresso Dressing was Blechhhhh. It is outrageously delicious! I’ll keep you posted!

That sounds pretty fun trying the various dressing ideas! My choices based on your description would be
Sundried Tomato Artichoke
Roasted Garlic Hummus Vinaigrette
Sweet Garlic Peppercorn
Café Balsamic Vinaigrette
All of those dressings sound really good. The only coffee one and the hummus one though sound very unique. I really like most balsamic vinaigrette so I’ll definitely trying coffee flavored one if I get the chance. Sometimes I find that the most unusual sounding combinations end up being really great since combined they form a completely new flavor that you’ve never tasted before.
Hi Aaaron,
It was fun! And having input on the types of dressing we liked and what we would like to see in a dressing was fun too! The espresso dressing is fabulous and of course the hummus dressing is out of this world! I’ll pass your suggestions on to the R&D team at Girard’s! Thanks so much!

I was sad we didn’t end up on the same call this time, but I’m so glad to see your opinions. Sounds like we felt the same way! I didn’t get to really taste the Expresso Balsamic because it had opened in shipping and spilled all over the box so I’m glad I got to hear what you thought!! This has been so fun and I’m so glad I got to meet you!!
What a fun experience Tiffanee! The Balsamic Espresso Dressing is fabulous! Hope we get to meet in person one day!
