Our pets are our best friends, our babies and our constant and faithful companions. They’re a part of the family and I know I want my grand-doggy Charlotte “Charlie” Brown to live a long happy life! She’s my daughter’s BFF and as such she deserves only the best! Sweet Pea wanted a dog from as far back as I can remember and as soon as she had the where with all to care for one she rescued Charlie and they’ve been happy ever since!

Being a fairly new pet owner, Sweet Pea isn’t always sure what the best foods are for Charlie or what products best meet her nutritional needs. Better Food for Dogs was written by a veterinarian and dog experts so this book offers a wealth of information on canine nutrition and diet-related health problems. Better Food for Dogs includes sections on Substituting Ingredients, Food Safety, Poisoning and Other Emergencies, Toxic Foods, Tracking Wellness and more! And of course there are 100 easy-to-prepare recipes that are organized by weight, which ensures your pupper is eating the right diet for their size.
Charlotte “Charlie” Brown weighs about 75 pounds so there are quite a few recipes in Better Foods for Dogs that are ideal for her! The recipes for 80-pound dogs work really well for Charlie because she runs with my daughter a few times a week and she’s quite active, but the 70-pound dog food recipes are great too! They are easy to make and the only special ingredient most require is a Bonemeal and multivitamin-and mineral supplement (a human supplement is fine, and a chart is included so you’ll know the correct amount to add.)
Charlie’s Favorite Better Food for Dogs Recipes
- Breakfast Burrito – She likes it for dinner too!
- Basil Chicken and Vegetable Pasta
- Oatmeal, Yogurt and Fruit – Just remember grapes and raisins are poisonous for dogs
- Rotini with Meat Sauce – Sweet Pea and Charlie both love Italian food!
- Cottage Cheese, Fruit, and Toast – Features hard-boiled eggs, whole-wheat toast and heart healthy fruit and cottage cheese! Easy to prepare and Charlie loves this ‘figure friendly’ recipe
Instead of canned dog food, which includes questionable ingredients, why not make your own Doggie Beef Stew? Better Food for Dogs includes the Beef Stew Recipe below formulated for three different weight dogs. This Beef Stew includes only superior ingredients, is easy prepare and Charlie love it

Best of Bridge Slow Cooker. Thx
Reading your post was like reading something I’d written myself. I have quite a few dogs, or furry kids…..in my house, if you say the word “dog”, they all look around and look out the door for some stray to bark at…. You say “kids” and they come running…. Like you, my dogs ars very important to me as well. I’ve got quite a few here, three of which are rescues. Enjoy cooking so would love this book to have more dog friendly recipes for them.
Hey G,
God Bless you for taking in rescues! That is what my daughter did, Charlie is such a Blessing too. We say “She’s just a girl, she’s perfect!”
Good luck and thanks for entering the giveaway.
