Videri Chocolate Prize Package {Rafflecopter Giveaway}

Videri Chocolate Factory scrupulously sources every ingredient to insure a high quality, socially responsible chocolate. Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of visiting a chocolate factory similar to the one in the popular children’s movie where the wallpaper was made of lick-able candy and the rivers inside overflowed with liquid, milk chocolate!  Such a place really does exist. :)  And that place is the Videri Chocolate Factory located at 327 West Davie Street in Downtown Raleigh North Carolina!  Granted they don’t have lick-able candy wallpaper lining their walls and the city ordinances prohibited a chocolate river from flowing through the factory.

Aside from that Videri’s doors are open to chocolate lovers who want to learn about the process and taste of handmade chocolate.  You really can tour the factory and see how their chocolate is made, from the bean, every day!  That’s my idea of an exciting way to spend the day!

This is how Videri Chocolate is made!

I was Blessed to receive a box of each of Videri’s four staple chocolate bar flavors and tin of Videri Sippable Hot Cocoa Mix for review.

Videri Chocolate begins with fair trade, organic cocoa beans that are hand sorted to remove any impurities.  Yes, they actually take the time to weed through the beans to remove any weird bits ‘n pieces that don’t belong there. Tedious as that seems it’s necessary to make a superior chocolate bar!  After sorting the beans it’s on to the roasting process where Videri Chocolate has perfected the art of roasting cocoa beans.

Once roasted the cocoa nibs are then ground down to a fine chocolatey liquid and organic cane sugar and cocoa butter are added.  I can almost smell the chocolate!  After aging anywhere from two weeks to two months, the Videri Chocolate is tempered, a process that gives it it’s beautiful sheen and nice snappy bite.  (We’ve all opened a chocolate bar, seen that ugly grey ‘bloom’ on the surface and wondered, what the heck?  That’s improper tempering.)  Once the chocolate has been tempered it’s finally ready to be molded, hand wrapped and enjoyed!

Videri Chocolate Bar Flavors
  • Classic Dark Chocolate – I’m a dark chocolate lover but I’ve noticed that the higher the percentage of cocoa the more likelihood the chocolate will taste bitter.  Videri Classic Dark Chocolate is rich and intense with no burnt or bitter aftertaste.  The box says one bar is a serving but the Classic Dark Chocolate is very satisfying and 1/3 of a bar is enough to satisfy my chocolate craving.  Each 3 oz. box contains 2 full size organic chocolate bars!
  • Dark Milk Chocolate – Do you love the idea of dark chocolate (because you know it’s full of antioxidants) but secretly you crave milk chocolate?  Videri created a chocolate just for you (and me)! They mix 50% dark chocolate with whole milk and the result is a scrumptious, rich, creamy chocolate bar that is FAB-U-LOUS.  Not quite milk chocolate, not quite dark chocolate, the Dark Milk Chocolate Videri Bar is the perfect snacking chocolate.
  • Sea Salt Chocolate – Sweet and salty is an irresistible flavor combination that’s hard to resist.  Most of the time overly sweet milk chocolate is combined with salt in too large a proportion for my liking.  Finding that the ideal balance is like walking a tightrope.  Videri combines 60% dark chocolate and a light sprinkle of sea salt and the flavor is perfection.  If you’re not careful the Videri Sea Salt Chocolate Bar will become an addiction, it’s that good!
  • Pink Peppercorn Chocolate  – I always say, “I like my food highly seasoned.”  I love spicy chocolate.  I think that a little spice brings out the flavor in chocolate.  Videri sprinkles freshly, cracked pink peppercorns onto their 60% dark chocolate in this perfectly spiced, but not fiery hot chocolate bar.  Pink Peppercorn Chocolate is my Valentine’s Day pick! It’s the chocolate that whispers romance to me.  All boxes contain 2 chocolate bars.  Suggest Retail Price ~ $7.99

Videri Sippeable Hot Cocoa Mix is made with 70% organic Dark Chocolate, Organic Cocoa Nibs, Organic Cocoa Butter and Organic Cane Sugar. I’m not a big hot cocoa person.  My Little Guy guzzles it like there’s no tomorrow so we’ve put the kibosh on his little addiction for the time being.  He was drinking it to the exclusion of everything else.  I do love coffee though and mocha flavored coffee is a favorite of mine.  Stopping at the fancy coffee shops for a mocha is an indulgence this girl simply can’t afford.  Adding a heaping teaspoon of Videri Sippable Hot Cocoa Mix into a mug of fresh, brewed coffee creates a rich, sweet, mocha that rivals the most expensive coffee shop.  I like to add steamed almond milk, which makes it a little creamier.

Sippable Hot Cocoa Mix doesn’t contain any artificial ingredients or flavorings.  It’s made with 70% Organic Dark Chocolate, Organic Cocoa Nibs, Organic Cocoa Butter and Organic Cane Sugar.  Heat up a cup of milk and add a scoop of Sippable Hot Cocoa Mix!  It’s so much tastier than a packet of those boxed store brands.  Price ~ $16.99

    Leslie,
    I think I asked you this before, but I’m getting confused. I assumed that we were to put what we’d love to try in the little box in the Rafflecopter. Some people are putting it in a post like this (see the 5 or 6 above this one). Can you tell me and others that might be confused, where to put the anwsers to your questions? Thank you Leslie!
