ISBN-10: 0778804941
ISBN-EAN: 9780778804949
Publisher: Rose, Robert Incorporated

Although I have no culinary training I’d say I have more knowledge than most about food, cooking terms and recipes.  What I do know about cooking is the tip of the iceberg though and I’m always hungry to learn more.  The Cook’s Essential Kitchen Dictionary, Second Edition is a complete culinary resource that’s as fun to read, as it is useful!

Between the covers of The Cooks Essential Kitchen Dictionary, Second Edition are thousands of up to the minute culinary terms, definitions, historical facts and anecdotes.  Flip through this comprehensive kitchen must have to learn:

  • Why Captain William Bligh of Mutiny on the Bounty was called “Breadfruit Bligh.”
  • What makes black bread black?
  • What the difference between sweetbreads and sweet breads is?
  • What the word Mandelbrot means.  It’s one of my favorite cookies of all time!  Hint we call it Mandel Bread at my house.

The Cooks Essential Kitchen Dictionary is ideal for anyone who loves to eat or has a hankering to learn more about food, it’s origins and meanings

Next time I happen upon an unfamiliar cooking term or ingredient while elbow deep in flour, sugar, faux meat or salad greens I’m turning to The Kitchen Essential Dictionary, Second Edition instead of Google!
